Do destination weddings book as far in advance as local weddings?

Elsie asked:

I work at a banquet hall and we are booking weddings for 2010. My stepson and his fiance are planning a destination wedding for August 2010, so I’m wondering if they should be making some decisions now, or if they still have time. Any idea? They do have a specific date in mind, but are flexible on the location, as long as it’s on a beach on the ocean (any ocean).

It’s better to book something like that now and then worry about the smaller details later on. Even though they aren’t picky it’s better to just get that done so that they’re aren’t scrambling for a location a year from now.

You can call around in the area that they are looking at and ask a banquet hall or all inclusive there. But unless they are getting married during the week since it’s a summer wedding, I’d say they should definitely book now!
